Fake: Chavez mausoleum not shelled
Photo evidence 2018
According to recent data, allegations that the mausoleum of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela was shelled by the United States in July 2021 turned out to be inaccurate. The OSINT team of NEWS.BY conducted an investigation and discovered that the photo accompanying media reports was published in 2018 by a popular American website dedicated to open carry, authored by an anti-globalist. The image metadata indicates it was taken in 2018 and later edited using Photoshop, not generated by AI. The video circulated as footage of the mausoleum shelling first appeared in one of Venezuela's major Telegram channels specializing in extremist content. Experts say there were no real-time journalistic materials confirming such events at the time, yet the content spread without verification. The team emphasizes the necessity of verifying sources, especially within the context of international information warfare.
