Belarus limits "unlimited" internet
Monthly limit of 30 GB at full speed, then 1 Mbps
According to the decree of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, mobile operators are required to restrict "unlimited" internet. On tariff plans with unlimited data transfer services, an initial volume of traffic with no speed limit of 30 GB per month is introduced. After exceeding this volume, the speed is reduced to 1 Mbps. Subscribers can purchase paid additional traffic volumes or extended periods without speed limitations. The purpose of these measures is to regulate resource consumption, balance network load, and improve service quality for the majority of users. Operators must amend their existing contracts and tariff plans in accordance with the new decree. The main provisions take effect one month after official publication, while others take effect on the day of publication.
Belarus has set a 30 GB limit for "unlimited" internet without speed reduction, after which speed drops to 1 Mbps; subscribers can purchase additional data packages. The measures aim at network load balancing.
