Lukashenko backs science decree

Optimizing structure, teaching activities, and increasing pay for academic degrees

President Alexander Lukashenko spoke with representatives of the science and education sector and generally supported the draft decree on scientific activities. According to the Minister of Science and Higher Educational Institutions Vladimir Karanich, "in principle, the draft decree has been supported, with some of its provisions sent for further refinement, including basic funding."

In particular, already adopted measures include optimizing the structure of research institutions, expanding opportunities for teaching activities, and increasing allowances for academic degrees in priority fields for the country. As Karanich noted, this will help strengthen employee motivation and improve research quality.

The text of the decree is still under discussion at the level of the Council of Ministers, and further coordination of all details is expected.
