Army's participation in Defenders' Day
Concert and gathering at the Palace of the Republic
A solemn meeting and a festive concert dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus are being held at the Palace of the Republic. In a conversation with journalists, the Minister of Defense stated: "Today, everyone in our country is engaged in their own work: someone sows bread, teaches children, builds houses, while others professionally protect their homeland. These are people in uniform, military personnel, servicemen of the Armed Forces." Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin noted that today the Belarusian army is 65% contract-based.
Context
The Day of Defenders of the Fatherland is celebrated on April 23 and is a memorial day in Belarus dedicated to all military personnel of the country.
A meeting and concert were held at the Palace of the Republic in honor of Defenders' Day, where the defense minister emphasized the importance of civilian and military service, and the lieutenant general highlighted the army's contract-based structure.
