Minsk hosts shooting championship
Security and government leaders compete in events for Defender of the Fatherland Day
Today in Minsk, a championship in shooting sports dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus has begun. The participants of the competition include leaders of security agencies, their deputies, and representatives of state bodies.
State Secretary of the Security Council, Lieutenant General Alexander Volfovich, noted that the holiday reminds us of those who have devoted their lives to protecting the peace and tranquility of the Motherland. The competitions "allow demonstrating a high level of training, professionalism, and combat skills," he added.
Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, acknowledged that the championship has become a good tradition that helps leaders master shooting skills and maintain a competitive spirit. He emphasized that every man, like leaders, should know how to shoot.
The competitions are held on the eve of the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and highlight the unity of the country's military and security components.
Context
The first such initiative was conceived six years ago, and since then the championships have become a traditional part of celebrating the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland in Belarus.
