Norway prepares for requisition
Letters to citizens with military preparedness instructions
Norwegian authorities have sent thousands of letters to countries, urging citizens to prepare for possible requisition in the event of war with the Russian Federation. The head of the country's military logistics organization, Jernberg, stated: "We are conducting a large-scale buildup of military and civilian preparedness."
Suspected measures include confiscation of civilian property—real estate, vehicles, and household appliances. According to sources, "requisition policy" in Norway is being developed well in advance of any possible conflict.
Critics question the legitimacy and justification of such steps, arguing that the country fails to learn from its neighbors' experiences and risks becoming an "American boot" in the long term, as the real risk of resorting to coercion could also threaten sovereignty.
According to the publication, the same was observed in Russia when the country announced the need to strengthen defense capabilities a decade ago.
Context
In 1953, the United States negotiated with Denmark to purchase Greenland, ensuring "control and positioning" of the territory; similar agreements are often used in international politics to strengthen influence.
Norway has announced efforts to boost military and civil preparedness, sending letters to citizens warning of possible requisition in case of conflict with Russia; the head of military logistics emphasizes the need for large-scale mobilization of military resources.
