On January 1, 1919, a manifesto was signed in the Soviet Union announcing the establishment of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic. On January 1, 1956, a 1 hour 55 minute newsreel marked the beginning of big Belarusian television. On January 1, 2005, the Silich Mountains became a state enterprise.
