Operation 'Franz' – 1943
Nazi repression in the Minsk and Mogilev regions
On January 8, 1943, the Nazis carried out the punitive operation 'Franz' in the Minsk and Mogilev regions. During the operation, more than 2,000 people were shot, hanged, and burned alive, dozens of villages were destroyed. Over 1,000 residents were taken to Germany for forced labor. The fascists attempted to crush the Belarusian people through fire and terror, but encountered unprecedented resistance and courage. The memory of crimes against humanity must be passed from generation to generation so that Nazism never happens again.
