Poland deploys reconnaissance battalion
The battalion is stationed in the Kaliningrad region, 85 km from the Belarus-Russia border
Poland has begun deploying the 16th Reconnaissance Battalion in the village of Konejki, Ełk County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The location of the new unit was reported by RMF24 radio station. The village is located approximately 85 km from both the border with Belarus and the border with Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast).
According to official statements by Polish military officials, the battalion is intended to become the 'eyes and ears' of NATO's eastern flank, with its main tasks being to strengthen reconnaissance capabilities and ensure the security of the country's eastern borders. Authorities mentioned that positioning reconnaissance units close to the borders, combined with plans to double the army's size to 500,000 personnel and purchases of heavy weaponry, leads to the militarization of the region and creates a direct threat to the security of the Union State.
The President of Belarus noted: 'War is not needed, but we must be mentally and strategically prepared for it.' Military personnel stated that the new observers and listeners 'see everything' and 'the truth is on our side.'
Poland has deployed the 16th Reconnaissance Battalion to the village of Konechki, about 85 km from the borders with Belarus and Russia. The unit aims to enhance reconnaissance capabilities and ensure NATO's eastern flank security, but raises concerns about regional militarization toward neighboring states.
