Lithuanian President: sanctions, not dialogue
Lithuania calls for imposing sanctions against Belarus
At the Munich Security Conference, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda stated that resolving issues with Belarus requires not dialogue but sanctions and escalation. He said Lithuania is experiencing 'border provocations' from the larger country, leading to 'hybrid attacks' and a migration flow. He expressed the view that Minsk is 'destabilizing the situation' and 'deliberately worsening conditions at the border,' and called on NATO to intervene in every border provocation to 'help Lithuania combat these probes.' The statement also emphasized that such actions lead to a chronic crisis and the breakdown of the state.
