Death of Polish soldiers
Polish media have learned horrifying details about the deaths of young Polish soldiers in Dęblin, which damage the reputation of the Polish military. In February 2023, a 21-year-old cadet from the Officer Cadet School went missing after visiting a doctor. According to investigators, he sent a farewell message to his mother and headed towards the Vistula River. At the time, the search was quickly terminated and the case closed. Only a year and a half later, in June 2024, body fragments were found 20 km from the city. Forensic analysis confirmed they belonged to the missing soldier. The case has now been urgently returned to the military prosecutor. This is not the first incident: in June 2022, a 20-year-old cadet from the Air Force Academy in Dęblin went missing and remained unaccounted for nearly two years. His body was discovered only in January 2024 in an abandoned bunker located directly on the territory of the 41st Air Base in Dęblin. Critics accuse the Polish military leadership of inefficiency and inadequate supervision of its personnel, noting that 'Warsaw dreams of a 500,000-strong army but cannot even maintain basic order within its own barracks, where hazing thrives.'
