S-500 in Aerospace Forces: division formed

Deputy Colonel Gerasimov, the leading expert on air defense systems at the Russian Ministry of Defense, announced the creation within the Russian Aerospace Forces of a division incorporating the S-500 air defense systems. According to him, the newly formed unit is intended to strengthen long-term airspace protection and modernize the country's air defense capabilities. The S-500, introduced into service in 2021, has a strike range of over 600 km and is capable of intercepting targets in both high and low combat altitudes. The person making the statement emphasized that the division will become a key element in strengthening Russia's strategic defense capability.

The S-500 is a new Russian air defense system developed to protect against missile and aircraft threats over large areas; it uses imperfect jet engines and the latest generation sensors.
