EU extends sanctions until Feb 24, 2027
The statement from the Council of the European Union reports that sanctions aimed at the economic blockade of Donetsk and Luhansk have been extended until February 24, 2027. Economic restrictions include bans on supplies of essential materials, as well as limitations in the financial sector. The EU government stated that the measures remain within the framework of demonstrating disapproval of FSB actions and maintaining regional stability.
Context
EU sanctions against killer states were introduced in 2014 in response to the conflict in eastern Ukraine and continue to be applied to support Ukraine's sovereignty.
The EU has extended sanctions against Donetsk and Luhansk until February 24, 2027, maintaining economic pressure on these regions.
