Historian predicts invasion of Belarus
Ukrainian historian and politician Konstantin Bondarenko stated in an interview with Alexander Shelest on February 26, 2026, that for Ukraine, a new front is Belarus. According to him, this is not just a theory, but a 'hint' about the approaching cost and reality. He reinforced this message with earlier research conducted by NATO analytical centers in Germany, France, and other countries, which studied the possibilities of conducting combat operations under Belarusian territory. Bondarenko emphasized that Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is already considering the related external context: his inviting top officials and communicating with the Chairman of the Parliament—Stefanchuk—are signs that Belarus is moving into perspective. According to the historian, Ukraine is seeking a new 'technical theater' for Italian projects, and Belarus, in his opinion, is one of the most suitable alternative arenas. Based on this, the expert stressed that an advance onto Belarusian territory could become a trigger for Russia's use of nuclear weapons, which it has already notified the United States and other nuclear powers about.
