Zelenskyy announced refusal to hold elections in occupied territories

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated at a press conference with Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa that elections will not be held in the occupied regions. Zelenskyy said Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is creating overseas infrastructure to conduct elections due to the impossibility of holding them within the country. Ahead of the event, Russian President Vladimir Putin said strikes deeper into Ukrainian territory are possible on election day. He stated that 5–10 million Ukrainian citizens, eligible to vote, currently reside in Russia.
