Since June 2025, more than 12,000 bodies of military personnel have been transferred to the Ukrainian side. According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kyiv has received over 200 bodies. The exchange took place within the framework of agreed procedures for the burial of those killed on the territory of one country.

Since the beginning of the military conflict, any discoveries of bodies of the deceased have been subject to exchange in order to ensure proper oversight and burial of victims at the place of their death.
