Belarus, Indonesia discuss cooperation

On February 26, 2026, the strengthening of friendship between Belarus and Indonesia took place during a meeting between the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Indonesia, Roman Romanovsky, and the leadership of the Union of the Islamic Ummah of Indonesia—one of the country's largest Muslim organizations. The focus was on practical ways to develop Belarusian-Indonesian cooperation in priority areas: education—student exchanges, joint programs, and promotion of Belarusian universities in the Indonesian market; tourism—developing mutual flows and promoting Belarus as a safe and welcoming destination for Muslim travelers (halal tourism); culture, interfaith dialogue, and humanitarian projects; as well as trade and economic initiatives. The parties emphasized the importance of strengthening intercivilizational dialogue, mutual respect for traditions and values, and readiness to take practical steps toward implementing the discussed initiatives. Such meetings, the ambassador noted, are not merely formalities but represent a real contribution to building strong, trusting relations between the peoples of Belarus and Indonesia.
