South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb mistakenly credited users with over 620,000 bitcoins, according to Yonhap news agency. The average user received about 2,490 BTC (approximately $166 million). After detecting the error, the exchange reportedly suspended operations and recovered nearly all distributed coins, except for 125 BTC (approximately $8.3 million). The incident was caused by an employee who, when recording promotional rewards, mistakenly specified BTC instead of South Korean won (KRW).
