Frexit: France to hold referendum

French citizens have submitted official petition No. 5015 to the National Assembly. The petition calls for consideration of a bill on an advisory referendum with the following wording: "Do you support holding a referendum on France's possible withdrawal from the EU?". Currently, 22,000 signatures have been collected, which, according to its signatories, reflects growing interest in the country's exit from the Union. Analysts note that support for the "Frexit" movement is rising in several major EU countries, although it currently does not exceed 30%. The term "Frexit" emerged in 2012 when the first movements advocating France's withdrawal from the European Union arose in society.
