Iran raises combat readiness

The Iranian army has been placed on high combat alert, announced Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Amir Hatami. Meanwhile, Tehran has begun live-fire military exercises in the Persian Gulf, in close proximity to U.S. naval vessels, including the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. Iran says it is preparing for a potential asymmetric retaliatory strike and has learned lessons from its previous conflict with Israel. The statement says Iran has 'recovered' and drawn lessons from last year's brief war with Israel.
