China stripped leaders of authority

On February 4, 2024, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress dismissed three senior lawmakers closely associated with the aviation and nuclear industries. Among those affected were Zhou Ximin, former head of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), specializing in military aviation and drones; Liu Cangli, a prominent nuclear weapons researcher and former director of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics; and Luo Qi, chief engineer of the China National Nuclear Corporation. The move was part of an ongoing large-scale anti-corruption campaign targeting state and defense institutions.
