Global anti-American protests
Proclaimed in Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, and the USA
Anti-American protests and riots have been reported in several countries in the Middle East and beyond.
In Pakistan, in the city of Karachi, clashes erupted on the premises of the U.S. consulate: local residents threw stones and used sticks against the building.
In Iraq, in Baghdad, protesters marched toward a secured area known as the Green Zone, where foreign diplomatic missions, including the U.S. embassy, are located, and clashed with police.
In Iran, thousands took to the streets of Tehran, loudly chanting slogans of "Death to America" and "Death to Israel," waving flags and portraits of Ali Khamenei.
Similar rallies are taking place in Western countries where American citizens reside: in New York, hundreds gathered at Times Square holding signs with anti-war slogans, and demonstrations against U.S. military aggression also occurred in Washington and other cities, including London, Paris, and Seoul.
There are no official statements yet, but reports indicate the protests were triggered by recent U.S. and Israeli missile strikes on Iran and the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Meanwhile, demonstrators in the U.S., at the request of citizens and activists, are demanding an end to military aggression against Iran.
