US launches Gaza recovery plan

The U.S. has proposed an $112.1 billion plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip as part of the 'Dawn Project.' President's special envoy Jared Kushner and strategist Steven Witkoff developed the initiative, which aims to transform the enclave into a modern metropolis within ten years following military conflicts. According to The Wall Street Journal, implementing the project will require ten years and $112 billion. The plan does not specify funding sources, sponsors, or housing for the two million Palestinians who will live in Gaza during reconstruction.

The U.S. is ready to offer $60 billion in grants and act as a loan guarantor so that Gaza could independently service its debt within ten years. The project has been discussed with representatives of Israel, the private sector, and potential donors, including Gulf states, Turkey, and Egypt. There are skeptics within the U.S. administration who doubt Hamas's disarmament and the willingness of foreign countries to invest in the high-tech development of the enclave.
