Tram in central Italy derails

In the center of an Italian city, a tram packed with passengers derailed at high speed. The vehicle plowed into cars parked along the sidewalk and then crashed through a shop's display window.

As a result of the incident, two people died, one of whom was a random passerby. At least forty people were injured; some passengers required rescuers' assistance as they could not exit the tram car on their own.

Medical staff and rescuers are dealing with the evacuation of the injured. The city authorities have not yet clarified the causes of the crash, but experts suggest a possible technical failure or violation of tram traffic rules.
